Finally, it’s time to think about your next holiday!

Whether you are looking ahead to 2022, eyeing up a trip to a European beach this summer or even considering a UK break, the holiday klaxon has sounded and you won’t want to miss out.

Let’s get the less positive stuff out of the way first. The earliest we will see UK holidays return is 12th April with overseas travel from 17th May. That might be a blow to potential Easter holiday plans but opens up a world of possibilities for this summer and beyond.

June sees the potential end of all government restrictions whilst mid-July should see all adults offered one of the brilliantly performing vaccines. A way to go but a much more optimistic outlook that we have had for some time.

So, what does this all mean for holidays? We’ve outlined 5 key points for you to consider…

UK holidays will get booked up – soon

With fewer people heading overseas this year the UK holiday market will likely have more people booking into a condensed time period. This is likely to result in increased prices, particularly if resorts are able to accommodate fewer people due to social distancing. Booking early will only require a deposit at this stage and will both secure your first-choice trip and lock in the price. See some of our favourite UK breaks here…

Don’t write off Summer 2021 for an overseas break

Last summer when we had no vaccine or immediate prospect of a return to normality we saw travel corridors open up across a number of worldwide and European destinations. By this summer it is likely we will see a similar situation with destinations opening up and the experience of last year ensuring covid-secure environments in hotels, villas and on tours.

Availability is likely to be in short supply, particularly within Europe, so being one of the first to act could make the difference in you being able to get away.

Take advantage of flexible booking

We cannot overemphasise this next point enough. Tour operators want you back and are offering flexible booking conditions to help give you the confidence to book. Kuoni are a great example, they are offering the ability to cancel or change your holiday up to 7 days before departure. Meaning you can book with confidence knowing that if things change, your money won’t be at risk.

It isn’t too early to be thinking of 2022

2022 is available to book even now! For all the reasons above, we expect 2022 to be one of the busiest ever years for holidays – with people who haven’t felt confident enough to book making their return. Again, this is likely to lead to issues with capacity and will inevitably lead to increased prices. Booking now, often with a low deposit, will secure your trip and ensure you get a competitive price.

In uncertain times, you can rely on us

Since the start of the pandemic, we have been here supporting our customers to get refunds, helping rebooking and even make the occasional new booking! You can be sure that we will continue to recommend tour operators who have supported their customers over the past year, every holiday we book will be financially protected through ABTA and ATOL whilst you will have someone at the other end of the phone should you need us.

The past year has been particularly tough on our sector but we are still here and remain totally committed to our community of clients in both Leighton Buzzard and Wellingborough through our shared love of travel and exploration.
