Jewel of the Emirates
Proudly sitting on the south shore of the Arabian Gulf, just a seven hour flight from the UK, is the enchanting destination of Dubai. One of seven Emirates which make up the United Arab Emirates, it enjoys guaranteed sunshine, beautiful beaches and turquoise waters. A subtropical climate, Dubai experiences very little rain and can achieve temperatures of up to 48C in summer and a much more comfortable average of 25C in winter.
Contrasts
A destination of distinct contrasts, it portrays a cultural blend of 'old meets new' and 'east meets west.' Undoubtedly the beach draws the majority of Dubai's visitors. This is no surprise given the staggering choice of landmark hotels, offering a diverse range of accommodation and soft golden sands with warm waters which are there to greet them. Heading inland, the colossal skyscrapers loom in the distance, a reminder of the immense wealth of cosmopolitan Dubai. Although business orientated, the downtown hotels are no less magnificent.
Paradise
A shoppers paradise, the traditional souks attract visitors from around the globe. Drawn by the sparkling gold and aromatic spices on sale, to a myriad of narrow alleys where fine jewellery and herbal wares are displayed. Modern shopping malls are scattered on both sides of Duabi Creek, offering the ultimate in retail therapy.
A new experience
No visit to Dubai would be complete without an Arabian desert experience. Desert safaris, dune bashing and sand-skiing are a few of the activities on offer.
